Free store diagnostic

Find out what is stopping your Shopify store from working as intended.

The Utfix free store diagnostic is a read-only appraisal of your Shopify store. No changes are made.

It is designed to find configuration, availability, shipping, Market, product, profitability and sales-channel problems that can be difficult to see when looking at Shopify one screen at a time.

The diagnostic does not change your store.

Utfix first gathers the supported evidence available from Shopify and authorised connected services, compares the different parts of your setup and explains what it finds in plain English.

What Utfix checks

The exact checks depend on your Shopify setup, permissions and connected services, but the diagnostic can examine areas including:

  • Shopify Markets and countries — Market status, country membership, overlaps, omissions and catalogue relationships.
  • Shipping and delivery — delivery profiles, shipping zones, manual and calculated rates, live-rate eligibility and countries that may be available in a Market but do not have valid shipping coverage.
  • Products and variants — fulfilment assignments, availability, inventory sources and variants that appear available but cannot actually be fulfilled to a destination.
  • Catalogues and publication — catalogue membership, exclusions and conditions that can prevent products reaching intended Markets or sales channels.
  • Product data and metadata — supported identifiers, attributes and metadata that may affect product readiness or publication.
  • Connected fulfilment and supplier evidence — supported fulfilment services, POD connections, supplier availability and differences between Shopify state and supplier-reported state.
  • Pricing and profitability — supported cost, price, currency, rounding and profitability conditions where sufficient evidence is available.
  • Sales-channel readiness — supported conditions affecting Google, Facebook/Meta, Shop and other connected channels.
  • Customer buying path — supported conditions that can prevent a product being added to cart, sold in the intended Market or offered a valid delivery method.

Utfix does not assume that every unusual configuration is wrong.

Utfix separates problems from harmless differences

A diagnostic can find thousands of affected products or variants without presenting thousands of separate “errors”.

Utfix groups affected items around the underlying problem wherever possible.

For example, if one configuration problem affects 2,000 variants, the merchant should see one meaningful finding affecting 2,000 variants, with the individual products available for inspection if needed — not 2,000 identical warning messages.

Findings are then explained using four merchant-facing outcomes.

Needs fixing means the evidence shows a material problem for which Utfix has identified a supported repair.

Your choice means more than one configuration may be valid and the merchant needs to decide what is intended.

Checked and safe means Utfix found a difference or unusual state but the available evidence shows that it is valid or harmless.

Worth watching means the current state is acceptable, but it may be useful to monitor it because future store, provider or platform changes could make it relevant.

What you receive

When the diagnostic finishes, Utfix gives you a retained result explaining what it was able to check and what it found.

Where supported, the result includes a store-readiness assessment, the important root-cause findings, the number and type of affected products, variants, Markets, countries or other resources, the likely consequence of each problem, and the evidence behind the conclusion.

Utfix also tells you which findings it can repair, which require a merchant decision, which depend on Shopify or another provider, and which do not need changing.

Where paid Utfix work is available, the result shows the estimated Utfix Credit cost before you decide whether to proceed.

You do not have to buy anything to see the genuine result of the free diagnostic.

Utfix does not deliberately blur findings, hide the useful part of the report or manufacture a problem simply to create a paid repair.

No changes are made during the free diagnostic

The free diagnostic is designed to operate with supported read access.

It does not use that read access as authority to change products, Markets, catalogues, shipping, inventory, pricing or other store settings.

If you later choose a supported repair, Utfix separately shows you what it proposes to change, the intended result, the Credit requirement where applicable and relevant repair information.

You decide whether the repair proceeds.

If you approve a repair

Approved repair work is limited to the scope you authorised.

Utfix checks the live state again before or during execution. If the store has materially changed, required evidence is missing, permission is unavailable or continuing would no longer match what you approved, Utfix stops rather than silently expanding the job.

A repair is also not treated as successful simply because Shopify or another service accepted the request.

Utfix performs a fresh authoritative check afterwards and reports the repair as verified only when the expected change is confirmed.

What if Utfix cannot check something?

Utfix will not turn missing evidence into a confident answer.

Some information may not be visible through Shopify, may belong to a private third-party service, may require an optional connection, or may simply not be available from the provider.

If that happens, the diagnostic identifies the limitation and explains what could not be checked.

Where the available evidence is too incomplete for a defensible conclusion, Utfix can report the result as incomplete or unscored rather than pretending the store is healthy.

You can stop after the free result

After receiving the diagnostic, you can review the findings and do nothing further.

You may also choose to approve selected Utfix repairs, provide an additional permission or optional connection for deeper supported analysis, purchase Credits for eligible work, or later activate Utfix Monitoring.

Those are separate decisions.

The free diagnostic is intended to tell you whether Utfix has found something useful — not to force you into purchasing a repair.

Controlled beta access

Utfix is currently preparing its controlled beta programme.

The beta begins when the finished Utfix product is ready for real merchant use. The beta is intended to test Utfix across different real Shopify stores, configurations and operating conditions rather than use merchants to finish known core functionality.

Beta merchants will receive the available free diagnostic and a finite promotional Credit allocation under the applicable beta offer.
